Question 1:
When using Kindle select, you can set your book for free for 5 days out of 90.
Is this just a onetime 5 out of 90 days, or can we let the book go for free 5 days- every 90 days?
Question 2:
When using Kindle select, your not supposed to have your content on other platforms, Is a good way around this to change your title & cover & upload to other platforms or would you need to change the content as well?
Thank You
Question 3:
What is this new “price fixing scandal” that is currently taking place on Amazon.
Amazon is being forced against it’s will to do something that could potentially ruin the Kindle Marketplace?
What is the issue & how do we work around this?
hi, will the webinar be repeated at all as I may struggle to attend thanks.
Hi James,
Great job on Kindle Triangulation. I’ve learned a great deal from the package. Just a couple of questions for you:
1) Author names
You had mentioned that only one Kindle account can be created. Can you have multiple author names per account if different niches are used?
2)Clickbank vs Kindle
I’m wondering which venue would be best when creating a quality info product. You can sell your product at a higher price with Clickbank, but with Kindle can you make up for it with volume sales? I’m curious to hear your opinion on which is better or under what circumstances.
3) The “goat”
You had mentioned the goat as an ebook positioned on the first page that you can take over. Can you talk more about the criteria in identifying a goat.
Thanks for your help,
Dee
What is the best and easiest and fastest way to have a good quality cover for your kindle book if you are not a graphics person. Should you just outsource it to a place like fiverr.com or is there a way to do it yourself (preferably free) without the fancy software? And I would like it to be a picture or graphics WITH the title of the book on the front.
Also, and maybe I missed this in the course, should you publish pictures in full color? Or is it better to go with black and white? (inside the book I mean. Cover is always in color, right?)
He definitely said use color because they do a great job of showing a nice quality grey scale picture for people with b&w Kindles.
You mentioned submitting a non-compete; how is that done?
What about local Amazon markets? I am thiking of putting some content I have already written in Kindle book format and exploit the almost virgin Italian Kindle market or Amazon.it.
What I found is that the sales ranks are one order of magnitude smaller than for Amazon.com.
I found the most popular book in my niche at something like #200.
I don’t know how to work with these numbers. Probably multiplying 100x to compare them with Amazon.com can work, but how can I infer the number of sales? I don’t believe Kindle books on Amazon.it sell 1/100 of Kindle books on Amazon.com or it wouldn’t be a market at all.
It’s definitely a NEW market, with the Kindle only available since December 2011. It’s still a novelty and my feeling is that the prices can be higher than in the Amazon.com marketplace.
More like Amazon.com 3 years ago.
Again, how to apply Kindle Triangulation advice regarding price?
I know that the proof is in the pudding and I can put my books on sale and see what happens. But some insights from James can be precious.
I have an idea that I would like to share personally with James. Can you reach me on my email? marcodeveglia@gmail.com
I have 3 books enrolled in the Kindle Select program and would like to do a promotion. Two of the books are lead magnets that I’ve given away on my website for free, and I just released the third one at $8.97 and I’m trying to sell this, not give it away. Do you recommend I email my traditional email list and tell them to download the free lead magnets on the appropriate day? Would I earn any money from this free promotion? Does it count as a unit borrowed? Is the sole benefit to rank high on a popularity basis?
James I sent in the nondisclosure agreement, when will I get the signup for your webinar next Tuesday? I sure don’t want to miss it!
Hi!
I LOVE the KT course and I’m working through it now.
Question – If we’re trying to rank our ebook based on the “relevancy” sort results, why do we look for “the goat” takeover position via the sale’s ranking of the “popularity” sort?
Of course the popularity sort helps us hone in on our hottest kw topic and assess the market – so it’s obviously an important research step. But once we’ve targeted the right kw niche with this info – shouldn’t we be instead looking for “the goat” in the relevancy results?
It seems backwards to me but I’m sure I’m missing something
Thanks for your help!
~Faith
Hey Again James~
I’m so impressed with the info you have in KT!
Another question – when trying to takeover the “goat” position(s), are you doing it by making a similar title as the goat? Similar book style? ie top questions, expert interviews, etc. Or both?
How are you creating your ebook to target and overtake the goat?
I really appreciate your help as I’ve found a great niche that meets your guidelines and I know where the weak spot is (my goat haha)…but I’m confused if I’m just trying to make the most relevant kw title and pick whatever I want as my book style? Or am I trying to “one up” the goat by emulating them – but doing it one better?
Thanks!
Faith
James. Im in the Brian Johnson group and so we havent had ur webinar yet. However, in going thru your material I would like to know:
. why you have recommended the outsourcing sites mentioned and not others eg Odesk and Vworker?
Cheers
Rosemary
Hi James,
I just got your Kindle Triangulation last night and have not had time to go through it yet.
I have seen some criticism of the course and wondered what your response would be to it. Here it is:
“It shows you WHAT to publish. But, it does
not show you HOW to publish on the Kindle.
The training assumes you know the “game”
and that you know how to publish.”
Is this true?
Regards,
Wayne
Hi!
Just thought I’d chime in here – there’s a link to a simple video of the “how” to publish and James makes the suggestion of outsourcing it to Fiverr.
A do-it-yourself kinda gal I immediately Googled the steps of how to convert a .doc or .odt file for uploading to kindle (which were easy to find btw for free). About 11 steps in I paused and read to the end of the instructions and realized you need/want to actually test upload the converted doc on your OWN kindle before uploading to the marketplace.
So I discovered two things – the steps to format the doc, set up TOC links and test on your own Kindle will likely take you 30-60 mins! Plus you need to own a Kindle (which I only have the app).
This is why I’m sure James recommended Fiverr – it will save you a lot of time and money. And c’mon it’s $5…
FYI here’s the link to the “how” to publish on Kindle – it’s free:

James,
I love KT. Just one question about outsourcing on needanarticle. What skill level do you use?
I’m part-way through the ebook, and enjoying it.
What “author” name are your Kindle books listed under in the Kindle store?
James,
Great course. Loving it!
Please clarify the following:
Is the “goat” anyone with 100,000+ sales rank? Or what is the number?
Please expand on the free promotion idea. Do you run a one day free promo then go back to charging for the book for a few days and run another free day, raise the price, etc? A little more detail on how this all works together please!
Have you or anyone you know tried fiction, and how does it do?
Thanks again, and looking forward to the webinar session.
Best regards,
Larry Howeth
James,
Could you please speak to pricing as it relates to subject, niche, number of pages or other factors?
Regards,
Larry Howeth
I asked that during the seminar but he didn’t answer it. I’m intersted as well.
Hey James,
Really awesome webinar!
I quick question for you:
What’s your position on combining a few of my own blog articles (freely available on my website) and making a Kindle ebook out of them for sale. Possibly justifying the price (say around $3) that I took the time to make an ebook out of bunch of articles?
Thanks and Best Regards,
Chris
James, when you referred to posting discussion on the webinar where you talking about posting those discussions on a competitor’s book page?
Hey James! Can you please give an example of a short 10 page book on Kindle?
Thanks!
Hello,
I asked this question like a dozen times on the webinar but never heard an answer.
Does this whole method work for Amazon paperback books as well. And if so, to what degree? I mean, are there some parts of the training that we can apply to Amazon paperback books to make them rank better?
Also, with the $597 and $997 course on the webinar, can we use those courses and apply the techniques to amazon paperback books as well?
Thanks
Hi James,
I am curious if this will work for non book info products eg audio and video courses. I’m working on a video course I was going to release on Clickbank where I can charge more and have access to many affiliates, but amazon has more buyers already. If this will work for audio and video courses too, will it work for physical products – DVD/CD vs downloadable?
Thanks!
Omar
Hi James, can you recommend where we can get some templates for producing our kindle books?
Many thanks
Two things that weren’t addressed in the KT material:
1. What is it with the “goat” you mentioned – how do you identify it and what follows from there exactly in terms of actionable recommendations?
2. Foreign language markets: any special advice?
James,
I had a couple of questions…I am new to publishing…I have a book that I have written almost 25000 words in the first draft.
The questions i had are:
Begin With End In Mind: (as Covey says it)
How do we project how many books are sold when we are picking a niche?
You said that kindle sales rank of 5000 sells about 50-60 books every day?
If I were to estimate how much money is in a niche…how can I go about making an intelligent guesstimate?
Hello James.
I have read the book and just finished the webinar and I would like to know what is your method for ranking NON Keyword rich titles.
For example, if you have a relationship book that is Titled “The Truth Hurts” or something similar, how do you apply all of your “on page” ranking techniques with no keywords.
Especially if you are going into fiction. You want more of an engaging title than you want keyword stuffed. What do you do in that case?
Hi, James,
I’m really learning a lot from the KT course. Here are my questions:
Question 1:
Did you ever make the chart of the Amazon ranking numbers and how they relate to number of sales?
Question 2:
In Kindle Triangulation Class 3 you indicate that there is no “Amazon slap” for having several identical books done according to your Specializer Method (with only certain words changed, i.e. boxer, poodle, etc). Is this still the case?
Question 3:
Re: Stock Exchange photos. Most of the pictures say “Standard restrictions apply and photographer must be notified when using the photo for any public work.” That says for ANY public work. Have you notified the photographers of the photos you have used (since a Kindle book qualifies as a public work)?
Thanks,
Anne
some books in the number one spot have no amazon best selling rank information or related category ranking either. they have reviews and sales but no stats are showing up,why? how do we gauge the strength of competition if no ranking info shows up under product details?
Hi James,
How do you search the Kindle store by category to find out which categories have the strongest competition? I already know how to use the rankings in the categories to gauge my competition, but I’m having a hard time finding a place to look up the categories I want to research.

I bought Kindle Triangular and watched your video on how to create Trivia Games and Quiz eBooks. But it was vague and not clear enough to actually follow real good how to do it. Can you please provide a “detailed” step-by-step guide on how to create those quiz/game ebooks?
The sooner the better because I really want to create one of those and KT just teased me on how to do it. Can you please make a more detailed, teaching video on how to do that and/or a step by step guide? Thank you.
Just read this on the Kindle Forums at Amazon. Thought you might find it interesting. Wonder if Amazon will be moving on this, or if this is still a veiled yet approved method to get linkbacks?

OK so the link didn’t copy – but if you’re interested you should be able to track it down. Interesting thread from the author’s viewpoint.

Admin: I’m approving this comment but i have no clue what you are referring to. Can you explain?
according to amazon instant search, my subject is searched for alot. when i go to the top ranked books for that subject their best selling rank is poor.
if the book is not selling well even though their is a market is it the authors fault, poor title, wrong search words etc. or is amazon instant search not a reliable way of picking a niche? thanks
I attended last nites webinar and of course my kid had a little emergency right when you were revealing your best niche.
I missed the answer
I only know the 4 choices you gave.
I assume you don’t want to post the answer here in this blog for all to see
soooooooo
is there anyway you can let me know (e mail me?)
the ‘your best niche’ info
thanks
preston
PS
I am trying to amass the $$$ for your course in Feb.
my kid is OK by the way
Hello James!
I loved your webinar. I think it is smart to do the research first and then get a writer to do the writing of the research. Are you asking the writer to write a set of articles or a report and what are your minimum and maximum that you would be comfortable to pay the writer? How long time do you give them and are you outsourcing the type of books that you reveal in the webinar as well or do you do these yourself? I am looking forward to get into coaching in March once I am settled in my new home because right now I am in the process of moving to the Carribean. Thanks again for the great webinar:)
Hi James,
I’m posting a very favorable review on Kindle Triangulation.
As for questions: Do you know how often people search for “all departments” or “books”, rather than “Kindle store”? How long does it take after uploading a book before it shows up in the Kindle Store? Is it possible to do a one day 99 cent promotion to push up sales? How do you set that up?
Thanks. (I just bought the You Tube videos.)
Hi, James,
I am learning SO much from the Kindle Triangulation course.
I have another question. You mention that you have changed the book titles sometimes to maximize relevancy. When you make the title change, do you send an email to KDP to let them know you are making the title change and that this is not a duplicate-content book? As I understand it, you do not unpublish the book. You leave it published and make the title change.
Thanks for the clarification.
Anne
i’d like to get familiar with the kdp platform before the class starts but dont know how to set it up. when i setup a kdp account for the first time do i use my real name or a pen name? if i want to publish under different pen names can i do that in one same account or do i have to set up different accounts?
i have an account as an amazon buyer, it says to use that account for my kdp account is that what you recommend?
Hi, James,
If we use exact content from our own blog, would Amazon tag it as duplicate content and block it from being used in a Kindle book? If so, is there a way around this (other than re-writing what we originally wrote)?
Thanks,
Anne
I bought Kindle Triangulation thinking it was another Big Shiny Object. (Those things that cost a lot of money and do nothing). It is not a BSO. This works.
Wrote a short ebook on raised bed intensive gardening and it was on the first page of Amazon the first day. It comes up on 4 first pages for different key words.
In the first week it shows 258 sales.
Thanks for a great product, one that works.
Bud
